ScienceCinema – DOE’s Search Engine for Videos from National Labs
ScienceCinema is a new search engine for videos from the national laboratories and other DOE research facilities. One more way to find interesting and potentially useful scientific and technical information from the national laboratories. See more information at my blog post ScienceCinema: DOE Search Engine for Videos, which I shamelessly lifted from colleague Peggy Garvin of the Special Libraries Association Government Information Division.

The redesigned Recovery.gov website was unveiled on September 28th. There is a lot of data provided, much of it via tables, charts and interactive displays. I did not find the interactive maps to be very helpful; you may disagree. But nonetheless some interesting summaries are provided.
The two tabs of widest potential interest are “Where is the money going?” and “Opportunities”.
“Where is the money going?” currently reports data from agencies, and provides links to state, tribal, and territorial information. Recipients of ARRA funds were required to being posting data to the FederalReporting.gov site between October 1 and October 10, with results to be posted to Recovery.gov beginning October 15. This will include the number of jobs created or saved by those recipients.
“Opportunities” provides summary information about contracts, grants, and loans, with links to the relevant websites. Ostensibly jobs opportunities are also presented, although currently the page provides links to other relevent websites.
If you haven’t visited Recovery.gov in a while, the redesigned website may be a pleasant surprise. –nks
