Albuquerque, NM will be the site of the upcoming 27th annual System Dynamics Society conference, with over 20 workshops and over 100 scientists presenting papers on state-of-the-art theory and practice in system dynamics.

What is system dynamics? Per the Society, system dynamics is a “methodology for studying and managing complex feedback systems, such as one finds in business and other social settings.”   Computer simulation and modeling techniques help researchers, policy makers, and/or others to frame, understand, and discuss complex issues.

The conference papers and workshops are expected cover such areas as business applications, climate change, economic dynamics, energy and resources, healthcare, military applications, organizational dynamics, psychology/social dynamics, public policy, and more.

More information about the conference and the schedule is available on the conference website.   For a preview of the content, and to identify some subject experts, take a look at the “program by thread” page, which contains titles, authors, and abstracts of scheduled papers.  Here’s just one, from the health track:  Healthcare Industry Incentive Structures Pressure System Operators to Operatein a High-Risk State.  Now that could have some relevance for a vey current hot-button U.S policy issue! –nks
